Ballet
is fundamental to all forms of dance. Rowlett Dance Academy takes special
pride in our ballet department to make our dancers the best they can be.
Our classes are designed to help in growth and technique as a student progresses
from Ballet 1 to our Senior Ballet class. After a student has progressed through
Ballet 5, we then recommend that they start attending our twice a week classes.
They will then start at the “Signature” level and work their
way up to Senior Ballet. Often students will take Signatures for two years in a
row before they are ready to begin pointe work.

Students
are placed in
intermediate and advanced level classes as they meet certain criteria
such as
age; foot and ankle strength; proper technique and posture. All
students develop at their own individual rate & it is possible to
stay in the same class for more than one year and still progress. We
will not advance a student in a class before she or he is physically
capable of that level work.
The
decision to start pointe work is made only after a strong evaluation of the
student has been made by a Rowlett Dance Academy ballet teacher and complete
information about pointe work has been given to
the parent.
The
ballet department has 2 performances throughout the year - Nutcracker and
Recital Ballet Production.

Our
Nutcracker performance is performed in December and includes all of our
ballet classes and has opportunities for solo roles available by audition.
Our
year-end recital includes a ballet production that is separate from our other
class routines. The ballet
production includes all ballet classes
from
our 6 year-olds to our senior level pointe students.
We pride ourselves on our
ballet productions as they not only teach our students a ballet dance, but
educate them on what it is like to be a part of a “real” ballet company.
