2-YEAR
OLD CREATIVE MOVEMENT
– This class will introduce the 2 year old to a class environment and
encourage their natural curiosity and help channel that boundless energy.
Activities include tumbling, balance beam and pre-ballet skills.
This class does not participate in the recital.
(Dress: leotard, tights,
pink leather ballet shoes)
PRE-SCHOOL
COMBINATION
CLASS
– This class introduces the 3 to 5 year old to the performing arts and
includes tap, ballet, tumbling, and balance beam.
3-year-olds will perform one dance at recital and 4 and 5-year-olds
will perform two dances. (Dress: Leotard,
tights, pink leather ballet shoes, black tap shoes & dance bag for shoes.
Please put name in child's shoes)
BALLET
–
Ballet is the foundation of all dance. It
is a disciplined study that develops and improves posture, strength, balance,
and grace. It is recommended that
all students begin with ballet before adding other disciplines.
Twice a week classes are required for prepointe and pointe classes.
(Dress: Solid color or 2 tone
leotard, pink tights, pink leather ballet shoes, hair in a bun.
Ballet skirt is optional. If your child was a a ballet student during the last school session, click here to see the correct placement (first year, 6 to 7 year old students should enroll in Ballet 1).
POINTE
–
An advanced level of ballet. Students
must be 10 years of age with strong ankle strength, correct posture &
turnout, and a solid technique background.
Teacher approval is required. (Dress:
Solid color or 2 tone leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, hair in
a bun. Ballet skirt is optional.)
BOYS CLASS
–
for ages K-5th gr. Designed to tap into that energy. This
class builds strength and flexibility and improves coordination through
exercise, tumbling and hip hop dance. (Dress:
T-shirt, shorts or sweatpants, jazz shoes or jazz sneakers.)
CONTEMPORARY/LYRICAL
– For 4th grade and up as seen on "So You Think You Can Dance".
This class combines jazz movement with the gracefulness and strength of
ballet. It is a slower form of
jazz that requires the dancer to express emotions through movement.
Previous dance experience in either ballet or jazz is highly
recommended. (Dress: Leotard, footless tights, Foot Undies, or Dance Paws)
HIP
HOP –
This
form of dance
is a structured
form of street dance. You will
see this type of dance in music videos. The class will teach agility,
coordination, strength, and endurance. (Dress:
Dance
attire - anything moveable and comfortable.
Sneakers or jazz shoes for footwear.)
JAZZ
–
You can see jazz dance in commercials, videos and on stage. Technical leaps
and turns are part of this class. (Dress:
Leotard, tights, leggings or dance pants, and jazz oxfords.
Tan jazz shoes for 1 – 3 graders.
Black jazz shoes for all others. Shoe
requirement may change for recital. We will know this by December.)
DRILL TEAM - Power stretch, high kick and jazz technique. Classes for elementary through high school.
MUSICAL
THEATRE –
For grades 2nd – 12th, this class includes Broadway style dance, improvisation
and acting technique. (Dress: Dance
attire (leotard, dance pants, leggings).
ballet, jazz, Foot Undies or Dance Paws for class use.)
TAP
–
Tap develops coordination, agility, and rhythm in any age student. Beginner
through advanced classes are available. (Dress: Leotard, tights, black tap shoes. Tap 1 and up wear oxford style tap shoes.
Leggings and dance pants are acceptable.
ZUMBA - For ages 12 & up. Zumba fitness is the only Latin-inspired dance-fitness program that blends red-hot international music and contagious steps for a great workout. (Dress: workout attire and tennis shoes.) $5 a class.
ZUMBATOMIC- For students 1st through 5th grade. Latin inspired dance-fitness program just for kids! (Dress: workout attire and tennis shoes.) $5 a class.
PRIVATES
–
Students may contract with studio teachers for private and semi-private
lessons for extra instruction or to prepare for special performances or
tryouts.
